What is a Position Description?

A Position Description forms part of your employee’s Employment Agreement or Contract for Services. It details what responsibilities are associated with the position, and what the key measurements or performance objectives are.

Why do you need a Position Description?

Regardless of the size of your business, a detailed position description for each staff member will be of enormous significance when it comes to dealing with performance or disciplinary matters. It is an important tool in that it establishes a performance benchmark to measure against in your performance appraisal process.

The following position descriptions are downloadable as Word documents.  These documents are subject to this disclaimer

PD – Veterinarian

PD – Vet Nurse

PD – Head Vet Nurse

PD – Practice Manager

PD – Vet Receptionist

PD - Accounts/Payroll

PD - Animal Technician

PD - Veterinary Technologist

Note:  The tasks undertaken by staff in vet practices vary considerably depending on the size and type of practice. The above position descriptions have been developed with a view to mixing and matching the tasks as necessary.   For example you may have a combined Nurse/ Receptionist position rather than separate roles for each. Just compare and combine the Key Tasks and Standards/Outcomes Expected as required.
