Skills assessments can be a valuable tool for analysing skill levels for:
- Job applicants prior to interview
- Assessing staff training needs
Asking job applicants to assess their own skills is one way of ascertaining information from them. This will allow you to base some of your questions on the responses the applicant has made, and to probe deeper for specific examples.
The templates can also be used as a way of assessing staff training needs. By identifying the areas an employee feels they are lacking skill and therefore where the practice training budget can be best utilised.
