New HealthyPractice website
7 March 2019
We’ve received great feedback on the new website so thanks to all of you who have taken the time to provide this. As with every new system there will be some ‘learnings’ and some of the queries we have encountered to date include:
Unable to find the subscriber specific site e.g. GP, Vet, Dental, Specialist and Allied Health?
The web platform that HealthyPractice uses is very clever. Within the one website the content is still customised for our individual subscriber types and your practice username now determines which content you see.
Unable to log on?
The new website meant that we were unable to migrate your passwords. The practice user name remains unchanged. If you can’t remember it, please give us a call on 0800 800 627 as you will be locked out if you have three failed attempts.
To reset your password – you can click this link https://healthypractice.co.nz/auth/reset/ , you will be sent an email to the address that we have stored in your subscriber profile. If you are unsure which email address we have, please give us a call or email business@mas.co.nz. We have had some subscribers frustrated that the email hasn’t arrived, but the link was being sent to a different email address or has been ‘junked’ at the receiver’s end.
Alternatively, on www.healthypractice.co.nz choose the ‘Sign in’ option on the top right hand of the page. At the bottom of the ‘Sign in ‘ box there is a ‘can’t remember my password’ link – click on that and it will take you to the reset your password box, and a link will be sent to the email address stored (as above). Passwords now must be 10 characters long, including a combination of one upper, one lower case letter and either a number or character. If you have multiple users in the practice maybe a phrase that is easy to remember will simplify access.
Leaving HealthyPractice
If you don’t log out (option on the left-hand navigation in green block) of the website and simply close the website by using the ‘X’ in the top right-hand corner. You should be able to access the content by clicking on the ‘Account’ link on the top right-hand corner next time you visit the website, this will only work if another user from your practice hasn’t logged out in the interim.
Account
On the left-hand navigation, you will see ‘Account’, this is where all the details you have provided about your practice is held. You can update details here whenever you wish and we encourage you to do this whenever practice details change.
Favourites
On the top right hand of each page there is a ‘Favourite’ star – if you click on this the page will appear on your welcome page as a quick link. An easy way to navigate to your most used pages.
Finally, please keep the feedback coming, you can call the team on 0800 800 627 or email business@mas.co.nz.

What do you need to do when you receive a resignation.
An employee resigns by giving you notice. This will usually be in writing but may sometimes be done verbally. If the employee resigns verbally, you should request that they put their resignation in writing. If written notice is not provided, you should write to them and record their verbal resignation.

A week in the life of HealthyPractice
So what does an average week look like for us? We review about 50-60 Individual Employment Agreements, contracts for service and letters of offer. Things we commonly adjust include: Agreement type e.g. fixed term, or casual that should be permanent part time Hours of work Trial period dates – remember the notice period can be shorter for this and we recommend 3 days to one week. 90-day trial periods
Over the last month we have had quite a few queries about 90-day trial periods. These questions have included their validity when there have been paid training days. Paid training days before formalising employment complicates things. Once you pay someone for undertaking work they are seen as an employee, and at this stage you haven’t provided the applicant with any terms and conditions of work in their employment agreement. Having a signed agreement before starting work is a legislative requirement.
