This privacy statement explains how we, Medical Assurance Society New Zealand Limited (“MAS”), collect, store, use and share your personal information.

What information do we collect and store?

We may collect and store the following information:

  • details of your use of the website, for example, what pages you access and how often, and
  • if you are a subscriber to the Portal on the website:
    • the details you provide to us when you subscribe, including your amendments of those details from time to time, and
    • any “Subscriber Content”, which includes any information you create and save on the Portal that are specific to your subscription.

We will securely store the information we collect on our central database.

How do we use that information?

We use the information we collect to get insights about how people use our website and our Portal. We like to know about statistical trends, online behaviour, and the profiles of our members and other site users.

For subscribers to the Portal, we store your details and your Subscriber Content to help us administer your subscription, ensure your details are up to date, and provide you with an all-round excellent service.

We will not disclose your personal information to any third party, unless you subscribe to the Portal and post personal information to the Portal Noticeboard. The Noticeboard is an open discussion area, and so will be made available to us and to any other subscriber.

We may aggregate information about your use of the website and Portal with information about other users and publish that information in a way that does not allow you to be identified.

You can change your personal details

You have the right to access and to request correction of any personal information you provide to us. If you want to see or change the personal information we have stored about you please contact us using the contact details provided below. We may charge you a fee for any reasonable costs we incur in responding to any such request. We will disclose our fee to you before charging you those costs.
